Pools / Spas and Tanning Ledges

Spas, Baja shelves and tanning ledges in Las Vegas

The shallow water is where most people spend most of their pool time. Design accordingly.

A tanning shelf is three to nine inches of water wide enough for a lounger, and on most builds it gets more hours than the rest of the pool put together. It is also the cheapest square footage in the design, because it is barely excavated.

A raised spa is the other end: the most expensive small volume in any pool, because it needs its own plumbing, its own heat, and a structure that holds water above deck level. It earns that cost in the shoulder seasons, when the pool is too cold and the spa is not.

Integrated versus attached

An integrated spa shares the pool structure and spills into it, which looks better and costs less to build than a freestanding one. A raised spa gives you a water feature: the sheet spilling over the edge is the single most used visual element in most Las Vegas backyards.

The plumbing decision matters more than it sounds. A shared-equipment spa is cheaper and slower to heat. A dedicated heater is more money and means the spa is usable in twenty minutes rather than an hour, which in practice decides whether you use it on a weeknight.

What this covers

After the Build: Keeping It Running

Once a pool is built, it needs regular care to keep the water, surfaces and equipment in good shape. Our pool service covers weekly cleaning and equipment checks, with pool repair when something fails. The acid wash and leak detection services are there when they are needed.

Every part of the job, under one team

Tanning ledges and Baja shelves

Shallow water sized for loungers, with umbrella sleeves where the sun demands them.

Integrated spas

Sharing the pool structure and spilling into it, which is the better looking and cheaper build.

Raised spas and spillways

Elevated with a sheet spill, which doubles as the main water feature on most designs.

Benches and swim-outs

Seating placed where people actually stop, which is usually the shallow corner nearest the house.

Heating and plumbing decisions

Shared or dedicated heat, which quietly determines whether the spa gets used on a Tuesday.

Common questions

What homeowners ask us first

Shared equipment or a dedicated spa heater?

Shared is cheaper and takes about an hour to heat. Dedicated costs more and takes about twenty minutes, which is the difference between using it and meaning to.

How much does a tanning ledge add?

Less than people expect, because it is barely excavated. It is usually the best value square footage in the whole pool.
