Backyard landscaping in Las Vegas, planned as one space

A backyard is the room you use most and design last. We do it the other way round.

A terraced backyard at dusk: lit stone steps rising between planted retaining walls, a built-in bench with cushions and a fire bowl on the lower terrace.Backyard Landscaping in the Las Vegas valley

The standard Las Vegas backyard is a rectangle of block wall, a slab, and whatever the builder put in. What it becomes depends almost entirely on decisions made in the first week.

The ones that matter: where the shade goes, because in this climate an unshaded patio is furniture nobody sits on. Where the grade falls, because water will find the lowest point whether you planned it or not. What you see from the kitchen window, because that is the view you get a thousand times a year. And where the pool sits, if there is one, because everything else has to work around it.

Doing it in one plan instead of four quotes

Most backyards here are assembled from separate contractors: one for the pool, one for the concrete, one for the planting, one for the shade structure. Each does their part correctly and none of them owns the parts where the work meets.

That is where the problems live. The deck that slopes into the planting bed. The irrigation line routed under the patio somebody poured last month. The pergola footing that lands on the pool plumbing. The equipment pad that ended up in the only view from the living room.

One plan, one company, one person accountable for the transitions.

What this covers

Every part of the job, under one team

Whole-yard planning

Pool, hardscape, planting, shade and systems on one drawing, so the transitions belong to somebody.

Zones and circulation

Cooking, dining, lounging and play given their own space and a sensible route between them.

Shade strategy

Where shade has to be built and where a tree will do it in five years, decided before the patio is poured.

Privacy and sightlines

What the neighbors see and what you see, resolved with planting, levels and screening rather than a taller wall.

Drainage and grade

Where the water goes in a monsoon, planned rather than discovered.

Common questions

What homeowners ask us first

Can you work with a pool that is already there?

Yes, and a lot of our landscape work is exactly that: making sense of a yard where the pool went in first and everything else was an afterthought.

How long does a full backyard take?

It depends on whether a pool is involved and on permit timing. We give you a sequence with the inspection gates marked, so you know what is waiting on us and what is waiting on the county.
